The Power Quality in an Office Building Environment

The paper presents the power quality assessment in an office building, connected to the 20 kV public power grid, powered by a transformer station, with the apparent nominal power of 1600 kVA and voltage of 20/0.4 kV, operating at 50 Hz frequency. A power grid analyser was placed on the 400/230 V distribution board (monitoring the building’s power), and has been used to record and register the following parameters: voltage, current, harmonic current and voltage, active and reactive power, energy absorbed and injected into the National Power System as well as the power factor. Following the recordings and their analysis, it is shown that an improvement regarding the existing electricity grid is needed in order to achieve an effective management of the electric power related to the main distribution network.
