Experimental Reactor for the Study of Biochemical Processes under Electric Fields

Abstract
An experimental reactor for the study of the effects of electric fields on the mechanism and kinetics of biochemical processes is presented. With its specific construction,the developed reactor allows the creation of homogeneous and controllable electric fields in the experimental biomass, which is arranged in a rectangular container of insulating material. The calculation of the electric field strength applied to biomass was calculated by numerical modelling with a specialized software, Ansoft Maxwell 14.0, depending on the voltage applied and the construction / geometry of the reactor, for a biomass with given electric characteristics (dielectric permittivity and conductivity).
