Comparative Study among four Regulators of Continuous Voltage of UPQC Converters

Abstract
This paper is a study of the control part of the UPQC (Unified Power Quality Conditioner). The UPQC is a FACTS device (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System) used in the distribution side of the electric network. The impact of the FACTS on the grid is very visible in recent years. By that high suppleness of compensation, the UPQC can eliminate all the interference voltage and/or current via its double composition, a shunt part PAF and another series SAF. The proper functioning of these two parts is based on the successful prosecution of the bus voltage that continues of the two inverters and again, a good method for detecting the interference currents in the electric network. In this work, we make a comparative study of four controllers, the PI classical, fuzzy PI, IP and the proposed PIP controller for the control of the voltage of the two inverters PAF and SAF of the UPQC. With a new control method proposed for identifying the reference disrupting currents of a non-linear and inductive load of its shunt part, which was named fundamental components method PC. The results of this work showed that the PIP regulator gave the results satisfying, also the new control method has be able to detect the disruptive currents with success.
