Electromagnetic Screens Multilayer for Electronic Devices

Abstract
This electromagnetic field compatibility paper presents a model for calculating the effectiveness of shielding an electronic equipment with multilayer screens. The purpose of the screens is to protect the electronic device against interfering electromagnetic radiation. Starting from the shielding and interaction coefficients of the layers of a spherical screen, the basic principles of the calculation of multilayer shielding effectiveness for electronic equipment are applied for different scenarios: screens made out of the same ferromagnetic material, screens made out of different ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic materials and the screen within screen case. For each of them, the advantages of a multilayer screen are highlighted by comparison with the single layer shielding, achieved for equivalent conditions. Consequently, for sensitive electronic equipment, the use of some multilayer shielding frames constitutes an ideal solution for electromagnetic compatibility problems.
