Issues of Electromagnetic Design of Synchronous Brushless Motors with Concentrated Winding

Abstract
This paper describes the advantages and disadvantages of concentrated winding compared to classical distributed winding. Optimal electromagnetic design of synchronous brushless motor with concentrated winding on the stator and surface permanent magnets (SBMPM) is discussed. The Finite Element Method (FEM) shows and describes the magnetic fields of SBMPM in no-load condition, in loaded condition and in the condition of armature reaction.
